The first fully automatic robot production line in the domestic motorcycle industry has been put into production in Chongqing for a year, and it is reported that production efficiency has increased by 42.8%. The production line is located in the newly-built factory of Huaxi Industrial Park in Chongqing, and has an annual capacity of 1.5 million motorcycles and engines.

Robots replace manual welding

The reporter saw in the new plant that 11 FANUC welding robots were set in symmetrical two rows on 9 workstations of the welding production line. These yellow robot arms with a height of more than two meters flew up and down, and the welding process emitted bursts of arc light and sparks. At the same time, the short and powerful sounds unique to spot welding and gas welding are intensively emitted. Around these robots, automatic transport vehicles shuttle back and forth along fixed lines to transport motorcycle frames and various production materials for welding robots.

The reporter noticed that in this welding production line, in addition to requiring workers to manually put the frame on the automatic transport vehicle, the entire production line no longer requires manual operation by workers, and realized unmanned automatic production.

Pass rate increased by nearly 30%

Next to the welding production line, the company has placed a FANUC robot and a frame manually welded by workers for comparison. It can be clearly seen that the frame lines welded by the FANUC robot are straight and smooth. The appearance of the welded joints is beautiful and the welding quality is high. However, the manual welded joints are not straight enough and the welded joints are rough.

Lei Qianhong, deputy general manager of China Construction Industry Corporation, said that the first robot production line in the domestic motorcycle industry based on FANUC robot automation has achieved an automation rate of 90%, a production efficiency of 42.8%, and a pass rate from 70% increased to 97%. According to reports, after the completion of the new plant, the production capacity of the construction company increased by 50%, and the number of employees decreased from 11,660 to 7,906, a reduction of more than 3,000. The construction area has been reduced from 311,000 square meters of the original factory to 230,000 square meters. The land for relocation and construction has been reduced by 147 mu compared with the original site. 238%.
