Reva Systems, based in Chelmsford, Mass., announced its first product, the Tag Scanner (TAP), last week. The adoption of this product can alleviate the problems caused by the high complexity and cost of today's equipment. The external size of the TAP is 1U, and it can be mounted on shelves to manage RFID interrogators between devices. The reporter interviewed the CEO of Reva, co-founder of Ashley, and Mr. Stephenson.
Stephenson said that TAP is the main component of the Tag Scan Network (TAN) (conception of RFID system architecture). The company has been promoting the Tag Scan Network (TAN) since June of this year. The Tag Scan Network (TAN) is created by mimicking today's computer networks, which can be formed by the seamless integration of computers, servers, printers, and routers. This network is reliable, scalable, and able to work quickly and repeatedly. Without this network, current RFID systems cannot be quickly and repeatedly worked. After Mr. Stephenson and the company talked about the deployment of RFID for 18 months, they have been hearing that RFID will eventually be integrated into the computer network. He said that in the long run, RFID should not be used as a component of a server.
After TAP is installed on the corporate network, RFID readers can be plug and play on today's public networks. In this way, increasing the deployment of reading points will become particularly simple and can be completed within a few days instead of months.
TAP also has the following features:
â– Optimal use of RF spectrum â– Seamless integration with enterprise application software â– Powerful system control platform to enable and monitor RFID systems
The device is already on the market for $9,995. Hewlett Packard and Accenture have already deployed the device in their RFID center and tested their interoperability with SAP, TIBCO, and SeeBeyond.
When asked how the tag scanning network was conceived, Stephenson mentioned his and his co-founder David Husak's experience in network construction. Because many products in RFID are first provided by hardware drivers to a few people with software knowledge, and RFID products are not yet mature, the ability of upgrading the RFID system architecture and the ability to quickly repeat work have not been greatly improved. So Stephenson and Husak built the 25 elite company Reva, and on the basis of summing up the experience of network construction in the past few years, it clearly put forward the RFID system architecture.
