Graham Packaging, a US manufacturer, introduced a new rectangular PET hot-fill bottle. According to the company, the new shape of the bottle allows the supplier to load more than 100 bottles on a 4048-inch tray, which helps to achieve more efficient shipments. Toshi Kojitani, head of the PET bottle production line, pointed out that the new 64 ounce rectangular bottle is the same in weight, width and weight as the round bottle, but its cube efficiency is 25% more, which can save the retailer an average of 20% of the shelf space. "Rectangle bottles provide a major advantage for all concerned parties, juice canners, retailers and consumers."
The new bottles are mass-produced under the Old Orchard brand for packaging a range of fruit juice products. The company's suppliers will save 20% of the space, meaning that they can store 8 bottles of wine and now can store 10 rectangular bottles. The benefit to the retailer is that the bottle is very clean and has been watched for better display of the product because the entire package label is obvious. The reason why consumers like it is that it is very balanced and easy to grasp, suitable for the internal structure of the refrigerator.
