Researchers at the University of Campinas in Brazil recently used a variety of vegetable oil extracts such as rice, soybeans, and ramie as main raw materials, and added about 30% of petroleum extracts to make biodegradable biofoam plastics.
According to reports, unlike conventional non-degradable foams, the bio-foamed plastic materials successfully developed at the University of Campinas, Brazil, can be decomposed spontaneously in nature, taking less than two years. At the same time, due to the low production cost of bio-foamed plastics, no toxic and harmful by-products will be produced during the production process, and therefore it is an ideal lightweight packaging material to replace foams.
