Recently, BitPay has cooperated with Acer, the largest manufacturer of pos machines in the world, to successfully use its POS terminal to open the door for physical stores to receive bitcoin.

The magazine Blockchain Week reported today that the payment method was developed by BitPay and installed on the Axi terminal ICT250. The company said that this new approach still uses the existing operating system, Telium, and is therefore compatible with most of AZ's terminals.

Referring to this cooperation, Micuel Angel Hernandez, General Manager of Anzhi, mentioned in the statement:

“Being able to participate in such a major project fully demonstrates our leadership in the payments arena while providing end users with a secure and stable payment method.”

On the AZ terminal, after the merchant enters the price of the product, a QR code will appear. The user only needs to scan the QR code using the Bitcoin wallet application to complete the secure payment.

Headquartered in France, AZ employs more than 5,000 people worldwide and achieved a profit of 1.37 billion euros in 2013.

Promote Bitcoin globally

Earlier this year, Anzhi worked with Paymium to help European retailers accept bitcoin payments.

However, one of BitPay's spokespersons said that the new partnership could not be promoted on a global scale. In addition, he mentioned that all BitPay merchants that run electronic payments through compatible AZ terminals can receive bitcoin payments.

“Anzhi is a leader in the payment processing of physical commerce and e-commerce, and we are very happy to work with it. This alliance can help us push Bitcoin payments to the world further,” Executive Director of BitPay Tony Gallipi mentioned.

The company also made headlines last month, as it claims to reduce the number of employees to better adapt to the pace of development of the industry.
