Japan Toppan Printing has successfully developed Web Offset Press inks that contain no Petroleum Solvent components. This ink changed the solvent components from petroleum solvents to vegetable oil solvents. This product was developed in response to the requirements of Japan's CATALOGHOUSE, which was engaged in the mail-order sales business. It has been applied to the “Best Encyclopedia Dictionary of Mail Order Sales Life†version issued by the company.
As an environment-friendly printing ink, letterpress printing has been developed in the past to develop an aromatic-free solvent that removes the aromatic component in the ink petroleum solvent, and an offset printing ink that is newly refined by recycling the used cooking oil. At present, this ink has become the standard ink for the company's rotary offset press.
Since the ink developed this time does not use petroleum solvents at all, it can reduce chemical allergy caused by petroleum solvents remaining on the printed matter. In addition, since the rotary offset press does not discharge the petroleum solvent in the drying process of evaporating the ink solvent by heating after printing, it is also possible to control the generation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
The price is about 2 times that of the original ink. The current sales target is mainly focused on publications that focus on environmental protection.
