The new plant will be located in Long An Province, about 30 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, and will have about 70 employees.
The company said it will collect used PET throughout Vietnam, and about half of the recycled materials produced will supply the country's domestic market, and the other half will be used for export. It will mainly supply the film, fiber, resin and bottle preform markets.
Thanh Tai, with annual sales of approximately US$50 million, claims to be one of Vietnam's leading manufacturers of domestic gas systems, with a market share of approximately 9%.
The company plans to invest in a gas tank for producing plastic composite materials in Vietnam in September this year, and will use Swedish licensed technology.
The company operates a variety of businesses, including recycled polypropylene and various grades of polyethylene, production of plastic boxes and steel gas tanks, and storage of general import and export products.
