Most of the hybrid screening products developed by these companies add amplitude modulation network in the intermediate tone area (10% to 90%), and increase the frequency modulation network in high-light and dark tone areas. Its purpose is to obtain richer details in highlights and shadows and to avoid the appearance of particles in the midtones. From a production practice point of view, moving from AM to hybrid screening is much easier than moving directly to FM.
Fujifilm's hybrid screening product, Co-RES, was tested at Rink Printing.
