Complete mapping of oyster genome sequence map

Recently, the Oyster Genome Project (OGP) project team announced that the two-year sequence map of the oyster genome has been completed. This is the world's first whole-genome sequence map of cultured shellfish, marking a major breakthrough in the high-hybridity genome splicing and assembly technology based on short sequences. It is reported that the current genomic map has reached the internationally leading genomic map standard.
Aquaculture research enters the genomic era!
In recent years, China's marine aquaculture industry has made great strides. According to data, the total aquaculture production in China reached 34.9 million tons in 2007, accounting for 70% of the world's aquaculture production, of which marine aquaculture production was 13.84 million tons, accounting for 41% of China's aquaculture production. More than 75% of China's marine aquaculture output is shellfish, and the scale and output of the shellfish aquaculture industry rank first in the world. As a "model species" of shellfish, oysters have been widely concerned by scientists.
In view of the national marine economic development strategy and the development needs of the modern biology department, the superior economic value of oysters and their potential basic research value, in May 2008, Dr. Zhang Guofan, a researcher at the Institute of Oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Dr. Guo Ximing, a professor at New Jersey State University The Oyster Genome Project, and Shenzhen Huada Gene Research Institute as the preferred technology partner, formed an international oyster genome research team with the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences as the core. The oyster genome project was completed with the strong support of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Dalian Zhangzidao Fishery Group Co., Ltd.
