Experts pointed out that the inspection will no longer "severe eight pieces of furniture", which will greatly eliminate consumer furniture rights concerns.

According to the quality inspectors, the previous so-called destructive testing, that is, the furniture sent for inspection is 10 to 15 samples, or the furniture of different materials is sampled after each demolition. "This way the furniture is broken." The relevant quality inspectors revealed that the destructive testing is unrecoverable and has become one of the reasons why merchants and consumers are unwilling to send furniture for inspection.

"The introduction of the new standard can prevent the furniture from being damaged, and consumers and manufacturers are more acceptable and more environmentally friendly." Yesterday, for the new standard to be implemented, Su Jimei, senior engineer of Chengdu Quality Inspection Institute said.

Su Jimei introduced that the forthcoming "Environmental Testing Standard for Furniture" will try to replace the damage detection with non-destructive testing, and intends to replace the existing "atmospheric detection method" with the "climate box detection method". Through the "non-destructive testing of formaldehyde climate chamber" and other means, the inspectors will detect the furniture as a whole and avoid destroying its usability. These methods will not damage the overall structure of the furniture, and can make a more comprehensive and scientific judgment on the release of harmful substances such as formaldehyde. As long as one material is environmentally unsatisfactory, it can be concentrated in the comprehensive test results.
